Police veteran says he was terminated for exposing unauthorized access to restricted law enforcement system

JEFFERSON, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — A former Jefferson police officer was fired after he reported what he calls a serious breach of a restricted law enforcement database, according to an Atlanta News First investigation.

Lee New, who patrolled the streets for the Jefferson Police Department for more than 25 years, claims the city terminated him for trying to shed light on police misconduct. The city says his termination was for something else.
