Pregnant And Left For Dead In Georgia Park: Man Gets 60 Years For Shooting Girlfriend

A DeKalb County jury has convicted a 27-year-old man for shooting his pregnant girlfriend and leaving her at a local park, resulting in a 60-year prison sentence.

On April 20, 2026, Donald Wooten was found guilty of Criminal Attempt to Commit a Murder, Criminal Attempt to Commit a Feticide, and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony. DeKalb County Superior Court Judge Tangela Barrie handed down the 60-year custody sentence during a hearing on Wednesday, May 13, 2026.

The charges stem from an incident on March 4, 2023. DeKalb County police officers responded to a 911 call around 7:00 a.m. regarding an unresponsive woman near a walking trail at Chapel Hill Park in unincorporated Decatur.
