Augusta-area convenience store chain eyes new location near West Lake

A Columbia County developer wants to build a new convenience store on Furys Ferry Road across from another convenience store.

AM-PM Convenience Stores Inc. owns Petersburg Shoppes, the multi-building commercial shopping center at 500 and 502 Furys Ferry. Columbia County officials had already approved a zoning revision for the property to allow two 4,800-square-foot retail buildings on the land.

Applicant Manpreet Singh is now asking the county for a revision of that revision. The new proposal is to put a 5,662-square-foot GasPro convenience store with six gas pumps on what is currently a large parking lot in front of the Dink’d Pickleball indoor sports complex and Furys Ferry Hardware…
