Rabid fox confirmed in Cherokee County

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WSPA) – A fox, a cat, a racoon, oh my! Three animals from different counties in South Carolina (Aiken, Cherokee, and Williamsburg) have tested positive for rabies.

Near Moores Farm and Green River roads in Gaffney, a fox has tested positive for rabies. According to the South Carolina Department of Public Health (DPH), it is the first animal in Cherokee county to test positive for rabies this year.

One person was exposed and has been referred to their healthcare provider. The fox was submitted to DPH’s laboratory for testing June 25 and were confirmed to have rabies June 26…
