Augusta Property Owners Receive 2026 Assessment Notices With New Format and Appeal Deadline

Augusta property owners have received their 2026 assessment notices. The notice isn’t a bill. Owners get 45 days from the mailing date to contest the assessed value or request a homestead exemption if they qualify.

Notices went out June 29. That means the clock runs out Aug. 13. Residents have less than a month to review what’s on the page and decide whether to challenge it.

Two big changes appear on this year’s paperwork. Georgia Senate Bill 566 mandated a uniform statewide design, so every county now uses the same layout. Gone are the old tax estimate tables—replaced by an “estimated tax savings” section along with clear instructions on how to appeal or apply for exemptions…
