First Alert Forecast l Isolated severe storms possible Sunday, intense heat returns to start the workweek

AUGUSTA, GA — (WRDW/WAGT) There is a Marginal (Level 1) Risk of severe thunderstorms Sunday with dangerous heat and dry conditions returning to start the week ahead.

Sunday: More sunshine, a few PM storms

Sunday returns to typical summer weather with more sun, less rain, hot temperatures in the lower to middle 90s and scattered thunderstorms during the afternoon and early evening. A few isolated storms could contain strong winds, so the Storm Prediction Center included the CSRA in its Marginal (Level 1) Risk for severe thunderstorms with the greatest chance of storms in the CSRA between 2PM and 8PM.

Next Week: Heating up, drying out

Hotter than average temperatures return to start the last week of July with highs Monday and Tuesday soaring into the middle to upper 90s Monday through Wednesday. Highs could even top the 100 degree mark in many locations Tuesday with feels like temperatures as high as 107 degrees. Storm chances will be extremely low during this time, so plan for extended heat.
