A veterans’ hospital has launched a new treatment to help veterans who have overactive bladders and urinary incontinence.
VA Augusta Health Care System has become the first hospital in Georgia and the second VA Medical Center in the nation to offer the Altaviva implant, a device that changes how the brain and bladder communicate.

Urinary incontinence and overactive bladders affect up to 33 million Americans and impact people’s quality of life.
Those who have served in the military sometimes experience these conditions due to prolonged periods of holding their urine or restricting their fluids.
