AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – A homeless man found dead nearly a month ago has been identified as Paul Gonzalez, according to Richmond County officials. Gonzalez was found in a homeless camp in a wooded area behind the Chuck E. Cheese on Marks Church Road.
His death adds to a growing number of homeless deaths in Augusta, drawing attention to the daily work of local outreach teams connecting people living on the streets with shelter, medical care and recovery programs.

The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office deploys four to five outreach workers every day to check on unsheltered residents and connect them with community resources, according to RCSO Major Robbie Silas.
