AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – The Boys & Girls Club in Augusta is seeing an increased need for its services as the South Augusta YMCA prepares to close its doors on September 14.
Programs cited as vital for community
Chante Luckie said programs like the Boys & Girls Club are vital, not just to fill gaps for working parents but to show kids what is possible.
“Sometimes the community itself has this thought process of, you’re from south Augusta, so you’re not going to go to college or you’re not going to be able to get this job. And we want to change the mindset of those kids,” Luckie said.
