19 inmates report illness at Charles B. Webster Detention Center

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) – The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office says 19 inmates reported nausea or diarrhea after complaints about food served inside the Charles B. Webster Dention Center.

According to RCSO, 17 of those inmates were seen by medical staff.

The Health Department also inspected the food service unit, but officials say nothing negative was found.

Family members say they are still concerned about what happend.“We found out our loved was sick…and had been sick for about four and a half days,” she said. “There was no caregiver. None.”The Sheriff’s Office says the incident appears to be isolated and there is no ongoing risk.The inmates’s mother says she does not feel like families have gotten clear answers.“No, we haven’t gotten clear answers,” she said. “They said all is well, but it’s not…for those with loved ones in there, it’s not okay.”…
