Tubers enjoy Clear Creek despite low water levels

GOLDEN, Colo. (KDVR) — More high temperatures are expected this week, spurring an increased demand for water sports in Colorado, but at the same time, water levels remain lower than usual due to the dry winter and diminished mountain snowpack.

Low river and creek levels are expected to affect tubing and rafting businesses, but FOX31 spoke with tubers who said there is enough water to still enjoy Clear Creek.

“It’s somewhere in between rapids and a lazy river, you’ve got to keep your wits about you, look out for rocks, stay sharp out there,” said one tuber.

Others said the water seemed calmer which made the experience more enjoyable but riskier at the same time due to the closer proximity to rocks…
