A Cheyenne man who grabbed a child at a metro Denver water park and pulled her into a family restroom is headed to prison for more than two decades. On Thursday, Trenton Moskovita was sentenced to 22 years in the Colorado Department of Corrections after pleading guilty to felony kidnapping and sexual assault on a child stemming from an incident at Pirates Cove last summer. The judge also ordered him to serve at least 10 years of Sex Offender Intensive Supervised Probation and to pay almost $7,000 to cover the victim’s mental health treatment, closing a case that started with a frightened child sprinting out of a restroom and staff calling for help.
On July 7, 2025, Englewood police were dispatched to Pirates Cove after employees reported that a child had run from a family restroom and alerted her parents, according to a city media release, City of Englewood. The release and the arrest affidavit say officers detained a suspect who was still inside the park and that surveillance video shows a man motioning the girl toward him, taking her hand, and leading her into a family restroom. They remained inside for about nine minutes before the child got away, and the suspect was booked on charges that included sexual assault on a child and second-degree kidnapping, the city’s statement says.
Moskovita later pleaded guilty to felony kidnapping and sexual assault on a child and received a 22-year prison sentence, according to CBS Colorado. The judge also ordered nearly $7,000 in restitution for therapy and imposed Sex Offender Intensive Supervised Probation for at least a decade. “This defendant brazenly preyed upon a vulnerable child in a community space where families expect to be safe,” Deputy District Attorney Tory Reavis said in a press release, per CBS Colorado.
What Sex Offender Probation Looks Like
Sex Offender Intensive Supervised Probation, or SOISP, is Colorado’s highest level of probation for felony sex offenders and comes with strict oversight of almost every part of daily life. According to the Colorado Judicial Branch, SOISP can include daily contact with a probation officer, curfews and unannounced home visits, electronic monitoring, polygraph tests, and tight restrictions on computer access and employment.
Where It Happened
The assault occurred at Pirates Cove Family Fun Aquatic Center, listed at 1225 W. Belleview Ave., which is operated as part of Englewood’s parks system, according to the city’s website. Staff members at the park called police after the child ran from a family restroom and told her parents what had happened, the city’s media release states. Moskovita’s arrest and subsequent guilty plea have helped focus attention on how family restrooms are monitored and how quickly park employees and officers react when a child sounds the alarm…
