Heartbroken Bookworm Pours Inheritance Into Englewood Romance-Only Book Café

Englewood is about to get its own happily-ever-after headquarters. Good Girl, a romance-only bookstore and cafe, is slated to open July 11 at 2807 S. Broadway, bringing shelves stocked exclusively with love stories to the South Broadway corridor.

Owner Meg Garcia-Jahrman, a 29-year-old Morrison native, built the concept out of a years-long reading binge that followed the loss of both of her parents, when she powered through roughly 400 romance novels. The small shop will pair a tightly curated, genre-specific selection with a cafe serving specialty beverages and an espresso program built around a local roaster.

According to The Denver Post, Garcia-Jahrman has been documenting the buildout on social media since April and has already hired an assistant manager along with about five baristas. She told the paper she inherited money after her parents’ deaths and expects the project to cost between $150,000 and $200,000. Encouraged by her husband, she decided to shift from private reading habit to neighborhood business, with community programming planned alongside regular retail hours…
