West Highland Bank Heist Bust: Denver Man Nabbed After PNC Robbery

A Denver man is in custody after a mid-afternoon holdup at a PNC Bank branch in West Highland, an arrest that federal agents say hinged on weeks of community tips.

The FBI’s Denver office announced that 45-year-old Dustin Ware has been identified and arrested in connection with the June 2 robbery at the PNC branch on West 32nd Avenue. The hold-up, reported at about 4:20 p.m., kicked off a public tip drive that stretched for weeks and, according to investigators, ultimately helped crack the case.

FBI credits public tips

According to FBI Denver, “WE GOT HIM! Dustin Ware, 45, was identified and has been arrested in connection with this incident.” The social media post links Ware to the June 2 theft at the PNC branch at 3804 W 32nd Ave and notes Denver Police case number 2026-298379. Investigators say the arrest followed tips from the public that were passed along to law enforcement.

What investigators were looking for

Before the arrest, an FBI alert shared surveillance photos and described the suspect as a white or Hispanic man in his late 30s to early 40s, about 5’7″ to 5’9″ and roughly 220 to 250 pounds, according to the agency’s post. Those details, paired with the public plea for information, helped guide the investigation. The PNC West Highland branch at 3804 W 32nd Ave is listed as the site of the reported robbery, and the location appears on the bank’s branch locator page.

Crime Stoppers reward helped generate tips

Metro Denver Crime Stoppers notes that tipsters can stay anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000. Community members can call the tip line at 720-913-STOP (7867) or send information online.
