Craig Hospital is moving ahead with a $250 million campus expansion in Englewood as demand for brain and spinal cord rehabilitation services continues to outpace capacity. The project aims to relieve a persistent bed shortage, with the hospital typically operating at over 90% occupancy and maintaining a waitlist of around 50 patients.
The expansion, developed under a master plan initiated in 2018, will add 26 patient rooms and increase overall capacity by about 15%. The work is expected to bring the 119-year-old facility’s total footprint to approximately 330,000 square feet, with completion scheduled for late 2028.
Construction is being led by DPR Construction, working alongside design firm Davis Partnership. The project includes vertical additions above the East Building, a horizontal expansion to the north, and a new bridge structure connecting key patient floors.
