Broadway, babies! Two Colorado high-school actors take their dreams to New York

The Denver Center’s annual Bobby G Awards, which honor achievements in Colorado high-school musical theater, have named Windsor High School’s production of “Bright Star” the most outstanding  production of the 2025-26 school year.

Each year, the two individual students who are singled out for outstanding leading performance in a musical advance to the National High School Musical Theatre Awards – commonly known as “The Jimmy Awards” – in New York City.

The two spend 10 days attending master classes, bonding with other regional winners and rehearsing for their own appearances in what is always a robust, nationally broadcast event held at Broadway’s Minskoff Theatre.

Representing Colorado this coming Monday (June 22) will be Grayson Allensworth of Denver School of the Arts and Gillian Reynolds of Durango High School. They will perform in specially prepared medleys that highlight each of the participants from their own nominated shows. Their onstage appearances will officially constitute their Broadway debuts. And plenty of Jimmy Awards participants over the years have gone on to actual Broadway productions, including Reneé Rapp…
