DENVER (KDVR) — Friday, June 19, marks Juneteenth, and numerous activities and celebrations are planned for the entire weekend across Denver, including an extra special edition of the 15th annual Juneteenth Music Festival.
This year marks 161 years since Union troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, to announce that all enslaved people had been freed, nearly 2.5 years after Abraham Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation, which freed all slaves in Confederate states.
