DENVER (KDVR) — The City of Denver Parks and Recreation hosted an educational presentation in City Park on Tuesday to talk about the invasive insect, the Emerald Ash Borer, which kills ash trees and is now present in Denver.
“It’s been confirmed in three communities across Denver,” Luke Killoran, the Denver City Forester, said. “It’s in Congress Park, Rosedale Park, as well as Westwood.”

According to Denver Parks and Recreation, Ash trees make up approximately one in six trees across the city. In City Park alone, where they hosted the training, there are 635 Ash Trees, and if an infection were to happen, it could devastate the park.
