Air quality alert issued in Colorado. Smoky skies expected to persist

Wildfires burning in Colorado, Utah and Arizona are contributing to smoke and poor air quality across much of Colorado, with more expected overnight.

An air quality alert is in effect until 4 p.m. June 29 for Front Range counties like Douglas, Jefferson, Denver, Arapahoe, Adams, Broomfield, Boulder, Weld and Larimer.

But another plume of wildfire smoke could impact Northern Colorado beyond that time frame, according to the National Weather Service in Boulder…
