NORTHGLENN, Colo. (KDVR) — A Fourth of July celebration in a Northglenn neighborhood ended with a tree fire that spread to a home, serving as one example of the fireworks-related calls North Metro Fire Rescue responded to over the holiday weekend.
According to Northglenn police, just before 11 p.m. on July 4, a firework was shot across the street into a large evergreen tree near 113th Place and High Street. The tree quickly became engulfed in flames, and the fire spread to the roof of a nearby home.
Neighbors rushed outside with garden hoses while Northglenn police officers used fire extinguishers to help slow the flames until North Metro Fire Rescue crews arrived. The homeowner safely evacuated, but the fire caused significant damage to the home’s garage roof.
