West Metro Fire rescues dog that escaped through second floor window

DENVER (KDVR) – You’ve definitely heard the classic story about cats stuck in trees and firefighters coming to the rescue; however, it was a much different kind of rescue than that for West Metro Fire on Tuesday.

The West Metro Fire Rescue posted images of the unique rescue on Facebook, showcasing how crews responded to a townhome in the 8700 block of West Cornell Avenue.

The owner’s dog, Daisy, had somehow pushed through a window screen on the second floor and become stranded on a narrow ledge.

Engine 10 crews responded, quickly bringing out a ladder to reach the four-legged escape artist; however, she was afraid to go down the ladder, so firefighters took a new approach.

A few treats, patience and words of encouragement later, Daisy was convinced enough to go back through the same window she Houdini’d through as everybody got the happy ending…
