Crime in Denver is down almost across the board, except for homicides

DENVER (KDVR) — With 2026 halfway over, the Denver Police Department shared year-to-date crime statistics showing a decrease in nearly all categories — save for one glaring exception.

From January 1 to July 1, Denver saw a marginal overall crime decrease of .4%, with larger decreases in auto thefts, violent gun crimes and robberies. Homicides in Denver, however, have seen a major uptick, with a nearly 40% increase.

There have been 26 homicides in that time frame, while the same time frame last year had just 19 homicides…
