Car used fake temp tags, drugs found during traffic stop

DENVER (KDVR) — Aurora police pulled over a driver using fake temporary tags and found drugs and a stolen weapon in the vehicle during the traffic stop, the Aurora Police Department said in a post on X on Tuesday morning.

Officers were patrolling around the area near Mississippi Avenue and South Blackhawk Street when they saw a vehicle that was driving with fake temporary tags.

A traffic stop was conducted, during which the officers discovered that the driver had two warrants for their arrest for failure to appear, as well as driving with a revoked driver’s license.

The driver was arrested, and during a search of the vehicle, police located:

  • 84.6 gross grams of methamphetamine
  • 41.5 gross grams of fentanyl
  • A stolen firearm
