Denver Police officers are investigating a reported stabbing that happened early Sunday in the 1100 block of North Syracuse Street, with no word yet on a suspect, a motive, or how badly the victim was hurt. As of Sunday morning, the identities of those involved had not been shared, and the extent of their injuries remained unknown, according to police.
Police reported the incident in a post on X Sunday, but as of Sunday afternoon, the Denver Police Department had not responded to a request for comment from the Denver Gazette about whether a suspect remained at large or whether more details were available. The investigation remained ongoing as of Sunday morning, per the same account.
The stabbing adds another entry to a troubling run of violence on this specific stretch of East Denver. Just weeks earlier, on July 10, Hoodline reported that Denver Police opened a homicide investigation after a fatal shooting at an apartment complex near East 12th Avenue and North Syracuse Street. Less than two weeks after that, on July 22, officers were also called to an outdoor death investigation near 4th Avenue and Syracuse Street, according to Hoodline’s earlier reporting.
A Block With A Long, Unsolved History
The 1100 block of North Syracuse Street carries a darker backstory that stretches back two decades. CBS News reported that on September 6, 2025, Denver Police investigated the fatal shooting of a juvenile male outside a house party on that same block. And according to the Colorado Cold Case Files database maintained by law enforcement, the block was also the site of two unsolved homicides: the October 16, 2009 shooting death of 24-year-old Keyru Lolo in an apartment courtyard, and the November 22, 2005 shooting death of 24-year-old Shawn Patterson in a nearby business parking lot…
