DENVER (KDVR) — A man who allegedly had a secret girlfriend is facing charges of murder and tampering with evidence and a body after his wife, a Lakewood teacher, was found dead in the couple’s home, according to the First Judicial District Attorney’s Office.
The district attorney’s office on Wednesday filed three charges against Patrick “Ted” Barnett, 40, in connection to the death of his wife, 37-year-old Lindsey Barnett, who taught art at Westgate and Hutchinson elementary school, less than a week before school started.

Police responded to the Barnetts’ home in Lakewood on Aug. 13 at about 6 a.m. after Patrick called 911 to report that his wife had “cut herself and her throat,” according to an arrest affidavit.
