Aurora Public Schools is opening its first dual-language magnet school this week in honor of the late Betty Benavidez, the first Hispanic Colorado state legislator.
Students in the APS district come from 130 countries and speak 160 languages.
At Escuela Bilingüe Betty Benavidez, 560 Vaughn St. in Aurora, instruction will be given in 90% Spanish and 10% English in preschool, then gradually shift to a 50-50 split in later grades, according to an APS news release…
