Controversial Aurora landlord Zev Baumgarten is suing the city in federal court over a claim that didn’t carry much weight in his ongoing criminal trial.
Baumgarten, a reported owner of the infamous CBZ Management, filed a civil rights lawsuit in federal District Court of Colorado on Sept. 23, claiming the city handed out a slew of violations to the company’s Colorado-based properties because of Baumgarten’s Orthodox Jewish faith.
This is the second time Baumgarten has attempted to claim civil rights corruption since CBZ became a flashpoint of United States immigration and local enforcement in 2024, when a viral video showed armed men entering an apartment at the former Edge of Lowry apartments at 1218 Dallas St. The video snowballed into national news segments and even a campaign stop by President Donald Trump before the 2024 election…
