A group of more than 60 passengers, crew members and air traffic controllers have filed a lawsuit alleging the suicide of a man who ran in front of a Frontier Airlines plane during takeoff led to injuries and even the death of a woman on board.

On May 8, Michael Mott scaled a fence at Denver International Airport (DIA) and died by suicide after walking in front of a departing Frontier flight, the Denver chief medical examiner previously confirmed. The pilot subsequently reported smoke in the cabin and an engine fire, leading to emergency evacuation of 231 people on board. At the time, 12 people reported minor injuries and five were transported to local hospitals, the airport reported.

However, a new lawsuit, filed jointly by Denver’s Ramos Law and Texas-based Watts Law Firm on Sept. 17 in the Denver District Court, claims passenger Silva Ermelidna de Cervantes died as a result of smoke and toxic fume inhalation…
