Family prepares to say goodbye to 1-year-old son after respiratory illness and trips to emergency department

DENVER (KDVR) — Eric Ryan and Maegan Coffin can’t believe what has happened to their son, Alastor. Their attorney said the boy was declared brain dead at a Denver hospital after a respiratory illness and will be removed from a ventilator on Friday.

The family was staying in the metro temporarily when Alastor got sick.

Coffin said she took Alastor to an emergency department in Northglenn on Jan. 9.
