Trash truck hits and killed pedestrian walking on I-76

DENVER (KDVR) — Part of Interstate 76 is closed after the Colorado State Patrol said a truck hit a pedestrian on the roadway early Friday morning.

Just after 6 a.m., CSP responded to a crash in the area of Interstate 76 westbound at milepost 6, just east of Interstate 25 and south of Thornton.

Based on the preliminary investigation, CSP said a Peterbilt trash truck was heading westbound on I-76 when it hit and killed a pedestrian walking on the interstate. The driver stayed on scene.

The crash closed part of the interstate, and the westbound lanes are blocked at milepost 6. As of 7:30 a.m., the westbound lanes are still closed for investigation, and CSP said traffic is being diverted to the lower junction…
