Dog found dead in vehicle stolen by ‘trusted’ pet sitter

DENVER (KDVR) — The dog of an Aurora man serving in the Air Force was found dead inside his own vehicle, which was stolen by a “trusted” pet sitter while the man was on deployment, according to a spokesperson for the Aurora Police Department.

On Saturday, around 12:47 p.m., Denver police located an abandoned 2014 Subaru Forester in the 300 block of North Logan Street and discovered a dead dog inside. Police confirmed that the vehicle belonged to airman Andrew Beckham and that the dog inside was his Husky named Maverick.

While deployed for the Air Force, Beckham reported to police that the man, Andrew Jansen, who was watching his house and Maverick while he was away, had stolen his dog and vehicle after he checked his doorbell camera and saw footage of Jansen leaving with Maverick and getting in the car.

“It was hard to see on my camera because he was taking Maverick out at night and then going in the car without telling me where he was going,” Beckham told FOX31…
