Man accidentally shot by upstairs neighbor at Aurora apartment complex: APD

DENVER (KDVR) — A man was shot in both lower legs in his Aurora apartment on Saturday morning after his upstairs neighbor accidentally fired a gun into his unit, according to the Aurora Police Department.

APD said Monday that the shooting occurred at an apartment complex in the 1300 block of North Peoria Street after the man’s upstairs neighbor, identified as 21-year-old Oscar Becerra-Gonzalez, was handling a firearm that discharged, causing a round to travel through the floor and strike the man in his unit below.

The man who was shot was taken to a local hospital for treatment and “is expected to be okay,” according to APD. Becerra-Gonzalez, meanwhile, was located by officers at the scene, taken into custody and arrested on charges of second-degree assault. A handgun was also recovered, APD said.

The victim and the suspect do not know each other, according to APD, which said the incident is under investigation…
