AURORA, Colo. — A high school and middle school in Aurora were on secure status for most of the day after a student drove “erratically and at a high rate of speed on school property” Tuesday morning, Cherry Creek School District said.
The incident happened at Cherokee Trail High School and Fox Ridge Middle School. The district said all students and staff are safe, and Aurora police said no injuries were reported.
Police said Monday night, the 17-year-old student’s mother reported him as a runaway and said he had taken her car. Tuesday morning, he arrived at the school in the stolen car and drove erratically in the parking lot, hitting the vehicle of a person who was dropping off their child. The student then left.
