Texas softball’s run to a second consecutive national championship seemed familiar. Like last year, the Longhorns (53-12) endured some midseason doldrums while going 7-8 in April and losing three of four SEC series. But like in 2025, they found their groove in the postseason and peaked at the Women’s College World Series.
Texas dropped its WCWS opener to Tennessee, then reeled off wins in four straight elimination games before sweeping Texas Tech in the championship series.
