High-speed pursuit ends in arrest of Austin man in Karnes County

PAWELEKVILLE – A 23-year-old Austin man was taken into custody after authorities said he led law enforcement on a high-speed pursuit that began near State Highway 80 and Farm-to-Market Road 627 and ended in a crash near Pawelekville.

According to the Karnes County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy on routine patrol attempted to stop the vehicle at about 5:21 p.m. on July 10 for multiple traffic violations. The driver fled, reaching speeds of more than 100 mph, authorities said.

The pursuit continued until the vehicle crashed as a result of reckless driving in the Pawelekville community near State Highway 123 and Farm-to-Market Road 887, the sheriff’s office reported…
