Popular Austin restaurant, live music oasis to close after 20 years

A long-time Central Texas neighborhood restaurant and live music hub announced it will be closing near the end of the month after 20 years operating in Texas’ capital city.

Satellite — a full-service restaurant and bar located in Austin’s Circle C neighborhood at 5900 W. Slaughter Lane, Ste. 400C, Austin, TX 78749 — first opened back in 2006 and is noted for its Texas-inspired menu offerings and seasonal ingredients, local beers and covered patio kickback spaces. Late last week, restaurant owners Ben Hardaway and Kullen Kifer confirmed the restaurant’s final day of service will be on Sunday, July 26, ending its two-decade run.

“We are deeply grateful to our team and to every guest, neighbor, friend, musician, vendor and community partner who has supported Satellite,” the announcement read in part, with Hardaway and Kifer adding: “Thank you for allowing us to be part of so many celebrations, dinners, happy hours and everyday moments. It has been an honor to serve this community.”…
