Austin ISD has ended a planned partnership with a nonprofit that was set to help manage three middle schools next year, a move that comes as the district faces the possibility of state intervention tied to upcoming accountability ratings.
The district said it is ending its contract with the Texas Council for International Studies (TCIS). The district applied to enter an 1882 partnership with TCIS, a move that would have exempted the schools from further state intervention next year. That the Texas Education Agency rejected the 1882 partnership.
