An immersive, Japanese-style barbecue dining experience is set to make its Central Texas debut next month. Chubby Cattle BBQ is putting the finishing touches on its first Austin restaurant within the city’s last indoor mall.
The new Chubby Cattle, located at 2901 S. Capital of Texas Highway, Unit J01B in Barton Creek Square, is set to open in August, according to a release from the chain. This new location comes as Chubby Cattle continues to grow its Texas portfolio with two spaces in Houston and another in the works for San Antonio. No set date was shared in the release.
“We’re excited to bring the Chubby Cattle BBQ experience to Austin,” said Chubby Group co-founder, David Zhao in a release. “It is known for its adventurous food lovers, and we believe our take on wagyu barbecue, blending authenticity, innovation, and premium ingredients, will truly resonate with the local community.”
Chubby Cattle is an elevated, all-you-can-eat Japanese yakiniku barbecue concept inspired by the success of its first Chinese hotpot location in Las Vegas in 2015, according to its website.
