Manor Police: Intoxicated driver faces 3 felonies after mom, infant die from crash

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Three arrest warrants were issued for a man Wednesday in connection with a June 21 crash that killed a woman and her 11-month-old daughter, as well as severely injuring a 1-year-old.

According to the Manor Police Department, 23-year-old Isaiah Nelson, who remains hospitalized following the crash, was charged with two counts of intoxication manslaughter causing death of multiple persons and one count of intoxication assault with vehicle causing serious bodily injury.

Police said Nelson’s vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic on Farm-to-Market Road 973 and caused a head-on collision with a family’s vehicle.

The vehicle Nelson struck was driven by 22-year-old Jennifer Hernandez. She died at the scene, and her 11-month-old daughter later died at the hospital.

“A toxicology report for [Nelson] revealed a blood alcohol concentration of 0.156,” MPD said…
