A new fast-casual Cantonese restaurant has settled into a Northwest Austin strip mall, bringing Hong Kong-style roast meats and Chaoshan braised specialties to a stretch of RM 620 already known for its regional Chinese dining. Precious Chinese BBQ opened May 27 at 11815 RM 620 N., Ste. 4, in the Cedar Park-North Austin area, serving duck and pork seasoned with spices and roasted to order.
The restaurant is built around siu mei, the Hong Kong barbecue tradition of roasting meats like duck and pork, according to Community Impact. Alongside the roasted offerings, the menu includes traditional Chaoshan braised specialties such as braised duck and pork trotters, prepared using a signature braising technique that glazes and slow-simmers meats in an aromatic brine. That brine is made with brown sugar, salt, soybean paste and more than a dozen spices, including star anise and galangal, per the same report.
The restaurant’s own website describes its roasting process as done “meticulously,” and Community Impact’s report characterizes the resulting meats as tender and flavorful.
