APD increases patrols after vehicle burglaries at Austin trails

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Austin police are investigating a series of vehicle burglaries at some of the city’s most popular parks and trailheads, including Mount Bonnell, Bull Creek and the St. Edward’s Greenbelt.

The crimes are happening as more Austinites head outdoors during the summer heat, with police warning visitors not to leave valuables inside their vehicles while they enjoy the trails and parks.

The Austin Police Department tells KXAN it has increased directed patrols in areas experiencing recurring vehicle burglaries.
