Rivera’s baking story stretches back nearly two decades before any storefront was on the table. She began her path in 2007 when her older sister taught her to make her first chocoflan — the Mexican dessert that layers chocolate cake with creamy flan — as a gift for her husband, according to the bakery’s own account on its website.
