AUSTIN (KXAN) — In this week’s episode of Student News Now on KXAN+, some Texas State University students had an unexpected start to the new semester after their dorm room in Falls Hall was flooded during the first week of classes. The university told KXAN the flooding happened after a toilet valve malfunctioned. Students were able to return to their rooms that same evening after cleanup and repairs were completed.
Our reporters are also covering a decision by the Leander Independent School District to send an appeal to the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) after the state licensing agency found the district’s police department did not properly vet officers, according to TCOLE. In August, TCOLE sent notices to the district recommending Leander ISD Police Chief Shā Rogers lose her peace officer license for a year.
