A fast-casual teriyaki chain best known for its Seattle-style bowls is moving into the space long occupied by a Central Texas dry cleaner, with plans to open near Rollingwood by early December. Teriyaki Madness is in the permitting phase for a new restaurant at 3231 Bee Caves Road in Austin, according to a company representative.
The tentative early-December opening date, attributed to the company representative, comes as reported by Community Impact. The site sits in the West Woods Shopping Center, a stretch of Bee Caves Road that for decades was home to Jack Brown Cleaners, a dry-cleaning business that traced its roots back to 1935, according to the company’s own history on its website. A state regulatory filing reviewed by real estate blogger Leslie Gossett put the new restaurant’s footprint at 1,300 square feet.
Teriyaki Madness specializes in Asian fusion bowls, with a menu that spans chicken teriyaki, orange chicken, steak, salmon and spicy tofu bowls, alongside chicken katsu and yakisoba-style options, per Community Impact’s reporting. The chain also offers appetizers including egg rolls, edamame, potstickers and crab rangoon. The Bee Caves Road location would mark the brand’s second restaurant in the Austin metro area, joining its existing Round Rock shop.
A Brand Built on College Cravings
Teriyaki Madness traces its origins to 2003, when brothers Rod and Alan Arreola and their cousin Eric Garma opened the first location in Las Vegas, modeling the concept on the Seattle-style teriyaki shops they had frequented in college, according to Hoodline’s earlier reporting on the chain’s expansion into Madison.
