Willow Bend Closes, Texas Gets a New Tallest Tower, and Del Webb Heads to Rockwall County

Willow Bend is (mostly) closed. Texas has a new tallest building. And Del Webb is pushing farther east of Dallas.

Willow Bend Closes Up Shop. Kinda.

The Shops at Willow Bend has reached the end of its run as a traditional shopping mall, although not everything inside has gone dark.

Aug. 31 was widely treated as the mall’s final day, but shoppers reported on Reddit that several stores remained open afterward, including longtime local favorite Cutlery Collection — whose owner one Redditor dubbed “the premier non-commercial knife sharpener for the area” — is apparently staying put for now.

North Texas Performing Arts also remains in its Willow Bend Center of the Arts space, with its annual production of Scrooge the Musical scheduled there Dec. 16–20. And, as CandysDirt.com previously reported, the Willow Bend location of Neiman Marcus plans to remain open through January 2027…
