Early voting starts April 20 ahead of May 2026 local elections

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Early voting for the May 2, 2026, Joint General and Special Elections begins Monday, April 20, and runs through Tuesday, April 28.

Voters in several local cities and school districts will have the opportunity to participate in making important decisions on the ballot. Here’s what you need to know before heading to the polls.

Early voting hours are as follows:

  • Monday, April 20 – 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Tuesday, April 21 – Closed to observe San Jacinto Day
  • Wednesday, April 22, to Saturday, April 25 – 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Sunday, April 26 – 12 t o 6 pm.
  • Monday, April 27 to Tuesday, April 28 – 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Travis County continues countywide voting, allowing eligible voters to cast a ballot at any polling location within the county.

Where can I go to vote?

Voters can go to any of these seven early polling locations listed in the county below, per a press release from the Travis County Clerk’s Office.

  • Christ Episcopal Church, 3520 W. Whitestone Blvd.
  • ACC Elgin, 1501 US-290
  • Lake Travis ISD Educational Development Center, 607 Ranch Road 620 N
  • Bee Cave City Hall, 4000 Galleria Pkwy
  • Lakeway Activity Center, 105 Cross Creek
  • Randalls Flagship West Lake Hills, 3300 Bee Caves Rd
  • Travis County Clerk, 5501 Airport Blvd

According to the release, the Travis County Clerk will conduct elections on behalf of the following local municipalities and governmental entities.

  • City of Bee Cave
  • City of Cedar Park
  • City of Elgin (Citywide, Ward 2, Ward 3)
  • City of Briarcliff
  • City of Webberville
  • City of Round Rock
  • City of West Lake Hills

School Districts

  • Eanes ISD
  • Hays Consolidated ISD
  • Lake Travis ISD

Municipal Utility Districts

  • Anderson Mill Limited District
  • Ensenada Municipal Utility District of Travis County
  • Pilot Knob Municipal Utility District No. 1
