Tentative trial date set for Austin shooting spree suspect Shane James Jr.

AUSTIN, Texas — We’re getting a better idea of when an accused spree killer may go to trial in Travis County.

On Tuesday, a judge heard updates in the case against Shane James Jr. and set a tentative trial date of Nov. 5.

Over the course of about a day in December 2023, investigators say James shot and killed his parents in Bexar County before driving to Austin and killing Emmanuel Pop Ba, Sabrina Rahman, and Katherine and Lauren Short.
