Bakersfield man arrested after 340 pounds of illegal fireworks found at home: BPD

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A Bakersfield man was arrested on Friday after police and fire investigators discovered more than 340 pounds of illegal fireworks at his home, authorities said.

On June 12, 2026, Bakersfield police detectives began investigating a person allegedly advertising illegal fireworks online. Police identified the suspect as Juan Carlos Ayala, 35, of Bakersfield.

Detectives served a search warrant at Ayala’s home in the 6100 block of Alderpointe Street, near Gosford Road and Panama Lane. During the search, investigators said they found and seized more than 340 pounds of illegal fireworks.

The Bakersfield Fire Department’s Arson Unit responded to assist with the investigation and seizure. All confiscated fireworks were taken into law enforcement custody for proper disposal…
