BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A man who was swept away in the Kern River earlier this month has been identified by the Kern County coroner as 36-year-old Corey Lewis Vargas, of Bakersfield.
Vargas was swept away on June 6. His body was recovered from the Kern River on June 11 by the Kern County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue.
The coroner said the incident happened just before 10 a.m. at Keyesville Beach North in the Lake Isabella area. Officials said Vargas entered the Kern River and went unresponsive…
