BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The Kern County Board of Supervisors is set to hold a public hearing Tuesday prior to approving the final recommended budget for the upcoming fiscal year.
The county’s total recommended budget for fiscal year 2026-2027 is $4,420,713,107. This is about $56.6 million less than last fiscal year’s adopted budget, indicating a 1.26% decrease, according to officials.

The discretionary revenue is projected at $594,097,009, along with around $118.1 million in other funding sources, officials said.
Out of the recommended $4.4 billion budget, the county receives about $1 billion from federal, state or other governmental agencies, Kern County spokesperson Erin Briscoe said.
